Electric Truck Platform Debuts With Scalable Battery Packs for Fleets
VoltDrive Systems Introduces Modular Battery Architecture That Cuts Fleet Electrification Costs by Up to 35 Percent
SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 22, 2025 — VoltDrive Systems today unveiled its groundbreaking TitanFlex electric truck platform, featuring industry-first truly scalable battery packs that enable commercial fleets to customize energy capacity based on specific route requirements. The platform addresses one of commercial transportation’s most critical barriers to electrification: the high upfront cost and inflexible range limitations of current battery technologies.
The TitanFlex platform introduces a modular battery architecture allowing fleet operators to configure energy storage from 300 kWh to 1.2 MWh per vehicle, representing a fundamental shift from fixed-capacity systems. This scalability eliminates the need to purchase maximum-range configurations for shorter urban routes, reducing initial capital expenditure by 25-35 percent. According to recent market analysis, the battery leasing-as-a-service market is expanding at a 20.85 percent compound annual growth rate, reaching $3.95 billion in 2025 as fleets seek more adaptable electrification solutions . The platform’s debut comes as major battery manufacturers like Proterra launch next-generation packs specifically engineered for heavy-duty applications, with energy densities reaching 176 Wh/kg .
Fleet operators using the TitanFlex system can realize operational savings of 45-75 percent on fuel costs compared to diesel equivalents, while maintenance expenses drop by over 40 percent due to fewer moving parts and regenerative braking systems. The platform’s smart battery management system continuously optimizes cell performance, extending pack lifespan beyond 5,000 charge cycles and delivering a typical return on investment within three years for high-utilization fleets. The system also integrates with existing depot charging infrastructure, supporting Level 2 overnight charging and DC fast charging up to 350 kW.
“Our fleet customers have been clear: they need electrification solutions that match their operational reality, not one-size-fits-all specifications,” said Elena Rodriguez, Chief Executive Officer of VoltDrive Systems. “TitanFlex transforms the economics of fleet electrification by letting operators right-size their battery investment while maintaining the flexibility to scale up as their business grows. This isn’t just an incremental improvement—it’s a reimagining of how commercial vehicles deploy electric power.”
The platform launches with two initial configurations: the TitanFlex-600 optimized for regional haul and urban delivery applications, and the TitanFlex-1200 designed for long-haul operations requiring maximum range. Both variants feature Proterra’s safety-certified battery architecture and comply with SAE J1939 and ISO 26262 standards. Production begins in Q1 2026 at VoltDrive’s Fremont, California manufacturing facility, with pilot deployments planned for major logistics providers across California, Texas, and New York.
VoltDrive has established strategic partnerships with charging infrastructure providers to ensure seamless deployment, including integrated battery swapping capabilities for select fleet applications. The company projects delivering 2,500 units in its first production year, targeting the medium- and heavy-duty truck segments that account for 23 percent of U.S. transportation emissions despite representing only 4 percent of vehicles on the road.
