Dubai, UAE – Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Al Etihad Payments (AEP), a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE, have signed a strategic agreement to launch the next generation of nol–Jaywan cards.
The new cards are part of RTA’s upgrade of the nol system to account-based ticketing, letting holders pay for travel with nol and make everyday payments through Jaywan, the UAE’s national card scheme.
Key features
- Activation and use through Android and iOS smartphones
- Accepted on public and private transport, including taxis and public parking
- Usable on online booking platforms for public transport across the UAE
- More than 120 promotional offers and discounts for cardholders
Rollout
The launch will be phased, starting with a pilot in November 2026 covering RTA public transport, taxis and public parking.
The agreement was signed by Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, and Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor for Banking Operations and Support Services at the Central Bank of the UAE and Chairman of AEP.
Al Tayer said the partnership supports a customer-focused, integrated mobility system, while Al Dhaheri said bringing Jaywan to nol moves the UAE closer to unified digital payments and supports financial inclusion.
