Berlin Startup Climatiq Unveils Plug-and-Play API to Automate Carbon Footprint Tracking for Global Enterprises
BERLIN, GERMANY — November 28, 2025 — Climatiq, a Berlin-based climate tech startup, today announced the launch of its plug-and-play API that enables businesses to automatically calculate and track carbon emissions across their operations and supply chains. The tool integrates directly into existing enterprise systems—such as ERP, procurement, and logistics platforms—to provide real-time, audit-ready emissions data without manual data entry or sustainability expertise.
The launch comes as companies face mounting pressure from regulators, investors, and consumers to provide transparent and verifiable climate impact data. With the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) now in effect, over 50,000 companies must disclose detailed environmental metrics, including Scope 3 emissions tied to suppliers and product lifecycles.
Climatiq’s API addresses this challenge by using AI to match unstructured data—such as purchase orders, invoices, and bills of materials—to a database of over 330,000 verified emission factors. The system calculates emissions in real time and provides a full audit trail aligned with the GHG Protocol, the CSRD, and the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
“Carbon shouldn’t be an annual report issue. It needs to show up when someone hits ‘ship’ or signs a supplier contract,” said Hessam Lavi, co-founder and CEO of Climatiq. “We’ve built a tool that turns emissions tracking into a live business metric—just like inventory or payroll—so companies can make climate-smart decisions every day.”
The company, which recently closed a €10 million Series A funding round led by Alstin Capital, is targeting mid-to-large enterprises in manufacturing, logistics, and digital infrastructure sectors—industries where Scope 3 emissions often account for over 80% of total carbon footprints.
According to a 2025 report from CDP, only 35% of companies currently track any form of Scope 3 emissions, despite these being the largest contributor to corporate carbon footprints. Climatiq’s API aims to close this gap by automating emissions calculations at the product and transaction level, enabling companies to meet regulatory requirements and reduce climate risk exposure.
Unlike traditional carbon accounting tools that require manual data uploads or sustainability consultants, Climatiq’s API is designed for developer-friendly integration, with full documentation, low-latency global edge deployment, and enterprise-grade security. The platform supports 16 economic sectors and 300+ regions, making it suitable for multinational operations.
Early adopters include a major European automotive supplier, which is using the API to calculate emissions from component production in real time, and a global logistics firm integrating the tool into its freight management system to offer customers carbon-transparent shipping options.
Climatiq does not sell carbon offsets, ensuring its emissions calculations remain unbiased and scientifically grounded. The company’s Scientific Advisory Board oversees all methodologies, and its data is regularly updated to reflect the latest climate science and regulatory guidance.
“We’re not here to sell greenwashing. We’re here to give companies the data they need to reduce emissions—not just offset them,” Lavi added.
The global carbon accounting software market is projected to reach $18.3 billion by 2030, up from $5.9 billion in 2023, according to Allied Market Research. Climatiq’s API-based approach positions it to capture a growing share of this market as businesses seek scalable, compliant, and developer-friendly solutions.
