The fountain’s name was determined through a contest conducted by Emaar Properties, the winner of which was announced on October 26, 2008. The fountain’s testing began in February 2009 and it was officially inaugurated on May 8, 2009, in conjunction with The Dubai Mall’s official opening ceremony.
