Dubai, UAE – Dubai has reached 25.8% clean energy production capacity, ahead of its original 2030 target, officials said at the 12th World Green Economy Summit (WGES 2026). The emirate now aims for 36% clean energy capacity by 2030 and 100% by 2050.

The summit was held on 21–22 October 2026 at Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the theme “From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy.” It was inaugurated by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

Key figures shared at the summit

  • Global clean energy investment is projected to reach $2.2 trillion in 2026.
  • The global green economy’s market value is reported to have passed $10 trillion by mid-2026.
  • The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park has planned investments of AED 50 billion by 2030.
  • The UAE Energy Strategy 2050 aims to triple renewable energy’s contribution by 2030, backed by AED 150–200 billion in investment.
  • The Global Green Economy Alliance now brings together 96 countries.

From ambition to scale

The first day covered the circular economy, lowering transition costs, net-zero energy, energy storage in the Middle East and sustainable power for data centres and AI. The second day focused on green investment, clean energy access, green finance across the GCC, desalination and clean water, blended finance, climate resilience and technology-driven food production.

Speakers including Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, linked the country’s green transition to economic growth, innovation and job creation, while calls were made for stronger water-security partnerships ahead of the UN Water Conference in December.
