Abu Dhabi, UAE – NMC Healthcare is investing AED 150 million to expand its medical facilities and specialist services across Abu Dhabi, as part of a growth strategy launched a year ago. Several projects have already been completed, with a five-year redevelopment of Royal Hospital Khalifa City forming the next phase.
Royal Hospital Khalifa City redevelopment
- More than 20 additional inpatient beds
- 20 more outpatient consultation and treatment rooms
- Emergency department expanded to more than 40 treatment bays
- Planned orthopaedics and physiotherapy departments, with separate gyms for male and female patients
- Upgrades to maternity units, paediatric services, VIP rooms and hospital entrances
New services across the network
- NMC Royal Hospital Abu Dhabi: an urgent care centre is under development.
- NMC Specialty Hospital Abu Dhabi: a new day care unit has opened.
- New clinics: opened in Al Riyad City and Yas Mall.
- NMC Mowj Child Development Medical Complex: launched with the Zayed Authority for People of Determination and the National Academy for Childhood Development, offering developmental assessments for children up to age eight, screening for neurodevelopmental conditions, and designation as an Autism Treatment Hub.
What it means for residents
The expansion adds capacity in emergency care, maternity, paediatrics and rehabilitation, and brings services closer to fast-growing communities such as Khalifa City, Al Riyad City and Yas Island.
