UAE Announces Consular Services for Golden Visa Holders

Consular services for Golden Visa holders

In a ground-breaking action, the UAE has announced a full range of consular services intended solely for Golden Visa holders. The services, launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), represent a major enhancement of rights for long-term residents.

This development signals a new era in the UAE’s approach to resident care and inclusivity. The announcement was made during a major technology exhibition in the presence of senior officials, including H.E. Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi, Undersecretary at MoFA, and H.E. Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of ICP, along with other dignitaries and delegates.

Strengthening the UAE’s Vision of Community and Innovation

The initiative supports the leadership’s vision for 2025, declared as the “Year of Community” under the theme Hand in Hand. It also reflects a broader national effort to build a cohesive, forward-looking society where residents and citizens alike share in the country’s progress. The introduction of these consular services shows the UAE government’s dedication to the integrated service systems that also improve efficiency, promote collaboration among federal entities, and elevate the nation’s global standing as a magnet for talent and enterprise.

Specialized consular services for Golden Visa holders demonstrate the UAE’s strategic intent to remain one of the most competitive destinations in the world for talent as stated by H.E. Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshams. i. He highlighted that the partnership between MoFA and ICP is a model for seamless service integration, simplifying procedures and extending government care to residents at every stage of their journey.

H.E. Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili added that this initiative represents a major leap in the way government bodies cooperate to serve people. He explained that both MoFA and ICP are developing intelligent, responsive systems to meet the unique needs of the visa holders and their families, in line with the leadership’s vision to create a secure and compassionate environment that reflects the UAE’s core values of generosity, humanity, and excellence.

What the New Consular Services Include

Holders of a Golden Visa can now receive a wide variety of consular benefits while residing or travelling abroad. The services were previously reserved for UAE nationals and provide peace of mind, security, and fast assistance in a crisis.

Emergency and Crisis Response

Holders of the Golden Visa are now officially part of the UAE’s global emergency response network. In various situations including environmental disasters, political instability, and health emergencies MOFA will be engaging with UAE missions abroad to support its efforts. A 24/7 hotline (+971 2 493 1133) can be used for emergency communications and support during a crisis, providing real-time guidance and coordination. This makes certain that Golden Visa residents and their families are covered by the same safety network that protects UAE citizens worldwide.

Electronic Return Document

Losing or damaging a passport while overseas can be quite stressful. To counter this situation, Golden Visa holders can now apply for the electronic Return Document, enabling them to re-enter the UAE without delay. Applications can be made through the official MoFA website or smart app using UAE Pass. Once submitted, requests are processed within about 30 minutes. The document remains valid for one entry within seven days of issuance, ensuring a smooth and quick return process.

Importantly, this service is free of charge and cannot be used for travel through third countries. It is also quite strictly intended for the direct return to the UAE, helping with the government’s commitment to practical and people-centric support.

Repatriation Assistance and Support

In a compassionate step, the UAE has extended its repatriation assistance program to include Golden Visa holders who pass away abroad. This service offers full coordination with local authorities and UAE missions to handle all documentation and logistics for returning the deceased’s remains to the UAE.

Families can also contact the MoFA 24-hour hotline or the UAE mission in the respective country to initiate the whole process.

While the government handles the procedural aspects, the family remains responsible for the associated costs, following the UAE policy. This initiative offer  emotional and administrative support during an incredibly difficult time, helping the bereaved families navigate complex international procedures with greater ease.

Family Inclusion

The UAE’s new service framework also applies to the family members of Golden Visa holders. These include spouses and children who are registered dependent with valid residency permits. This makes certain that all the family members are offered for similar support and care within the UAE and abroad. It’s a reassuring sign for residents who view the UAE as a long-term home for themselves and their loved ones.
