Dubai, UAE – The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has launched the 47th Planting Week, running until 8 November 2026 under the theme “Together, Let’s Plant the UAE”. The annual campaign encourages individuals, families, schools and companies to plant and care for trees across all seven emirates.
Why it matters
Planting Week supports the UAE’s efforts to expand green spaces, protect biodiversity, fight desertification and reach net zero by 2050. Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said the initiative builds on the environmental legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed and turns it into national action.
Activities this week
- Tree and seedling planting campaigns
- Workshops and environmental awareness sessions
- Agricultural exhibitions and volunteering opportunities
- Family-focused activities in line with the Year of Family, and gardening skills sessions for women

The ministry recommends drought-tolerant native trees such as ghaf, sidr and samar, along with mangroves in coastal areas.
